Retreat Maintains 5 Star Rating in 2013!
The Retreat Nursing Home continues to receive a 5 Star Rating from Medicare's Nursing Home Compare. The 5 Star Quality Rating System was created to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and help identify areas about which consumers may want to ask questions. This rating system is based on continued efforts as a result of the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA '87), a nursing home reform law, and more recent quality improvement campaigns such as the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes, a coalition of consumers, health care providers, and nursing home professionals.
Nursing home ratings are taken from the following three sources of data: Health Inspections, Staffing, and Quality measures, Under the Health Inspections and Quality Measures categories, the Retreat received 5 stars, and under the staffing category, it received 4 stars. In the ranking system, 3 stars are considered average, 4 stars are considered above average and 5 stars are much above average.
Nursing homes vary in the quality of care and services they provide to their residents. Reviewing health inspection results, staffing data, and quality measure data are three important ways to measure nursing home quality. This information gives consumers a "snapshot" of the care individual nursing homes give.
Donna Holman, Retreat Administrator, said, "We are proud to continue to be recognized with the CMS 5 Star Quality Rating. This rating calls attention to the good work given on a daily basis by our employees. This recognition is achieved by the daily teamwork and support of our employees and physicians, along with continued support from our families, board members and community."
